"Photographing a moment helps me move on from it, but keep it forever." - Olivia Bee
Mandurah Photography Club - Going for 50 years
Our club, based in Mandurah, Western Australia, was inaugurated in August 1972, which makes 2022 our 50th Year. CLICK HERE for the Minutes of the first meeting. Back in 1972, we showed each other our colour slides and prints from film negatives. The darkroom was where the action was. Today we are mostly digital but have some interest in film.
Since the club's inception, the monthly Appraisal evening has been the main event. Members' photographs, both digital and print, are critiqued. Each image is assessed constructively so we can learn to improve our photography.
We also hold regular workshops where members can develop and practice camera skills and computer-based image development. We enjoy our outings around our beautiful state. To see what's coming up, check out the Calendar by clicking its button above, or the About button to see the next 5 events.
The club is affiliated with the Western Australian Photographic Federation and share their resources. We use judges from outside the club, and expert photographers as mentors.
2022 Our 50th Year
We are planning a number of special events for our Jubilee. Keep Wednesday, August 10th free for our Jubilee Celebration Evening. Dinner at the Halls Head Golf Club and a special photograph competition are planned. In December we will finish the year with an evening canal cruise.
Currently, there are no restrictions on numbers at our meetings. Do not attend if you have COVID, or are a close contact. We ask that you wear a mask to our indoor meetings as a number of our members are at high risk.
